CHRISTIAN LIFE CENTER

WHAT ABOUT US?

We are an Assemblies of God church located in Elgin, Oregon. We are part of the Oregon Ministry Network of the Assemblies of God, which helps provide ministry support and accountability.

Here is a brief history of Christian Life Center: Mabel C. (Billie) Crampton started the church in 1940. They first met in the Sanderson's home, then moved to the Legion Hall, holding morning and evening services each Sunday. The Cramptons ministered to several men from the Civil Conservation Corps, leading many of them to Christ. They built the first church building on the corner of Fourteenth & Alder in 1941 or 1942. The building was paid for when they left in 1942. Other land was purchased on HWY 82, but was later sold. The old Roller Skating rink was purchased and underwent a major building renovation under David Abercrombie in the early 1990's. The fellowship hall (Abby Hall) was finished under John Barnhart in 2001.

We are currently undertaking the challenge to build a Youth and Children's Center in the upstairs portion of our building. This was part of the original building plan, but was never brought to completion. We believe that even in the midst of a challenging economy, God is leading us to complete this project and increase our impact on the young people in our community.

Christian Life Center has been blessed with a number of Godly leaders throughout its history. We thank the Lord for each one who worked so faithfully to reach out to this community. Mark Opperman has been the Lead Pastor at Christian Life Center since March, 2005, and is excited about helping people reach people with the good news about Jesus Christ.
